For Asexual Awareness Week, Elizabeth Barrette, aka ysabetwordsmith, posted a list of types of nonsexual intimacy that I found really interesting both as an asexual and as a writer:

This is arguably one of the most important lessons you can teach a super-sentient being.  Sex is fun, but ultimately just a possible facet of love.  Love is so much more… about sharing your heart and your mind, and really just about connecting as souls.  The best thing about love is that you can share it in so many ways!
